    6) How do I know my data is safe?
    1. We use a 1,024-bit key that is stored on your PC. Your session is secured by this key and the password that you supply on login. 2. We encrypt the data at your computer BEFORE we transmit it to our secure server, therefore it leaves your premises SAFELY. We use 448-bit Blowfish encryption on a 128-bit SSL layer, in addition to the 1,024-bit key. 3. We backup nightly to a second data centre to keep your valuable data safe (at no extra cost to you). 4. We perform constant wellness checks on your data transmission. If we spot a potential problem, you will be notified by email. 5. Our servers are located in CLASS A data Centre facilities that are monitored 24 hrs per day x 7 days per week. These same facilities are used by large corporations like the Bank of Queensland and Shell Oil.

    10) I already backup to CD, DVD, Zip disk, tape, memory stick, etc – why do I need dyoBackup?
Even though many people have the equipment to do backups, only a small percentage actually do regular backups (daily or at least weekly). Of those that do backup regularly, half will be unable to recover their data because of a faulty backup, and most do not store the backup safely offsite. Fully automated daily backups, encrypted for privacy and stored safely in a Class-A data centre, solves all these issues - in a very economical way.

    11) Isn’t it cheaper to do the backup myself?
No, dyoBackup is usually much cheaper than doing it properly yourself. The data is encrypted, and stored in a secure offsite location AUTOMATICALLY, at usually less than 10% of the cost of an equivalent service when taking all costs properly into account. The service for a typical home or small business user is only 33c/day to $1/day (100MB to 300MB).

    12) I don’t have broadband internet – can I still use dyoBackup?
Yes you can. Broadband internet is not essential - it depends on the amount of data to be backed up. Most of our customers do daily INCREMENTAL backups and these are generally small files easily transmitted via dialup.

    13) Do I have too much data to be backed up online?
We recommend that at least crucial accounting files, customer data and contractual documents be backed up automatically. Our experience is that for most small businesses this is only around 300MB per user, and for home users 100MB. Generally the limit for dialup is around 200MB, but broadband can backup many GB (gigabytes)

    14) Will I have to pay high ISP charges to transfer data?
Data upload charges are normally free for dialup internet. The data is compressed to usually less than half its original size before transmission. For broadband internet there are a number of options available to keep data transfer costs down or even NIL – such as change to one of the many unlimited upload plans now available, setup the schedule to transfer data off-peak, change to a free upload plan, and so on.

    15) I’m not sure about sending my confidential data to a 3rd party
The encryption ensures total privacy, so no-one can read the data except you. Your encrypted backups are backed up every day to yet another site. Companies like Shell and the Bank of Queensland use the same data centre for their data.
